Richard Frewer (tenor) Patricia Manners (Piano)
Andrew Bannerman & Carolyn Frewer (Readers)
This comprehensive tour covers the ground where poets of the First World War, some more famous than others, fought (and in some cases lost their lives) on the Somme between 1915 and 1918. The intention is to gain some understanding of the nature of the various conflicts in which they took part and the roles they played, and to use this context to explore the verse (and some of the prose) they wrote and its relationship with the times, places and circumstances in which it was written.
The tour is a Western Front Association initiative arranged by their tour partner Battle Honours Ltd.
The Wilfred Owen Story presents a celebration in words and music of Owen’s time spent at the iconic Christ Church in Oxton, Birkenhead. In 1902, Wilfred attended Sunday School here, and later became a member of the choir. His father Tom, who worked at Woodside, was also a church warden.
Actor Christopher Timothy and Wet Wet Wet's Graeme Clark will star in a special production of Bullets And Daffodils.
SOLD OUT.
